On The Layline’s founder, Rob Watson is the former Marine Business Technology Centre (MBTC) director. The highly successful European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) supported marine innovation service based in Devon in the UK. Running from 2018 to 2023, the MBTC was recognized as the exemplary program for ERDF and was responsible for developing Smart Sound Plymouth. Covering 1000 square kilometers, Smart Sound is a world-leading, fully instrumented, managed marine testbed based in and around Plymouth Sound. It also incorporates the world’s first ocean-focused 5G private network.
