Benjamin Brake has been Head of the new Digital and Data Policy Directorate-General at the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) since 1 March 2022. In this position, the sociologist reports directly to State Secretary for Digital Stefan Schnorr.
Before joining the Ministry, Brake spent roughly ten years as the Head of the Berlin office of IT service provider IBM, representing the company’s policy interests. His early career included positions at the German Bundestag and as Private Secretary to the then Federal Minister of Justice, Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger (FDP).
