Andris manages the innovation development system in the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia. His goal is to build a sustainable system that transforms research outcomes into products that enhance people’s lives. The Institute is expanding its cooperation with the industry making its scientific expertise beneficial for businesses.
Andris is also a leader of Materize – unit responsible for technology transfer and contract research. They make materials and innovation beneficial to business. Additionally, he is involved in Open Access Laboratory concept implementation in the Institute, linked with organizational changes, quality management system implementation, and long-term sustainability of the Institute. All this is a key part of the CAMART² project. For part of his time, Andris is managing the Institute’s projects, such as EUROfusion.
Andris researches solid-state physics specializing in X-ray absorption spectroscopy (EXAFS and XANES) experiments, interpretation, and methodologies. He is also an experienced manager who wants to combine these skills with his scientific knowledge.
